Chelsea confirmed on Saturday the acquisition of 18-year-old midfielder Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa, in a transfer worth up to £19 million.
Kellyman, who joined Villa’s youth academy from Derby County in 2022, has made six first-team appearances for the Birmingham club. He also plays for England at the youth level.
“It’s a massive club with an amazing history, so it is great to join… I want to be successful in the Chelsea shirt, win games, and hopefully lift trophies,” Kellyman expressed.
“Hopefully, I can become one of the faces on the side of the stadium. I want to become a big player for this club.”
Kellyman debuted professionally for Villa in August 2023, displaying his skills in a 3-0 Europa Conference League win against Hibernian.
This transfer marks Chelsea’s second deal with Aston Villa this week, following Dutch defender Ian Maatsen’s switch from Stamford Bridge to Villa Park for a reported £37.5 million on Friday.
