The Enugu State Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA) joined forces with operatives from the Enugu State Police Command to swoop down on a criminal hideout nestled within the confines of the Obeagu-Awkunanaw community, Enugu South Local Government Area. The crackdown unfolded on Friday, January 19, 2024, setting the stage for a showdown between law enforcement and the forces of lawlessness.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by DSP DANIEL NDUKWE, anipr, Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command, State Headquarters, GRA, Enugu.

The raid resulted in the apprehension of three male suspects, identified as Emmanuel Nwabundo, aged 39, Emmanuel Eze, aged 35, and Anthony Onoche George, aged 30. Their capture, however, was not without its challenges, as some of their cohorts managed to evade the long arm of justice. Nonetheless, the authorities managed to secure a significant haul of confiscated items, including eight pump-action guns, accompanied by a cache of four live and twenty-six expended cartridges.

But the inventory of seized contraband did not end there as law enforcement personnel uncovered a trove of additional exhibits, laying bare the extent of the criminal syndicate’s activities. Among the confiscated items were a machete, four units of solar-powered CCTV cameras – a sinister tool for surveillance, thirteen assorted phones, a DVD player, and an assortment of bags and clothes suspected to be stolen. Authorities stumbled upon objects believed to have supernatural powers, a testament to the lengths to which criminals would go to protect their illicit enterprise.

Preliminary investigations shed light on the nefarious activities brewing within the confines of the hideout. It emerged that the criminal elements, now in custody, had utilized the location as a strategic base of operations for orchestrating a litany of crimes, ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping. Their tentacles, it seemed, reached far and wide, casting a shadow of fear and insecurity over the metropolis of Enugu and its environs.

Law enforcement officials have pledged to leave no stone unturned in their quest for justice. The suspects, now in custody, await their day in court, where they will be called to answer for their alleged transgressions. This swift and decisive action underscores the unwavering commitment of the Enugu State Police Command to root out the scourge of criminality from the heart of the community.

Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc, commended the dedication displayed by the operatives involved in the successful raid. He reaffirmed the Command’s steadfast resolve to adopt a proactive stance in the ongoing battle against crime. With determination etched upon their faces, law enforcement officers stand resolute, ready to confront the challenges that lie ahead.

CP Kanayo Uzuegbu issued a clarion call to the citizens of Enugu State, urging them to remain vigilant and law-abiding. He implored the community to serve as the eyes and ears of law enforcement, providing crucial intelligence that could help thwart criminal activities before they escalate.

To this end, he urged citizens to report any suspicious behavior or criminal activity to the nearest Police Station or utilize the designated hotline numbers and email address while also reporting criminals and their activities to the nearest Police Station. They can also make such reports by calling 08032003702, 08075390883, 08086671202, or 08098880172, or by sending emails to infoenugupolice@gmail.com.

With the raid on the criminal hideout serving as a poignant reminder of the enduring struggle for peace and security, the people of Enugu State stand united in their determination to build a safer and more prosperous future for generations to come.
